I have arrived in England—safe and sound. Flight was very good—I learned three new things during it: 1. Anti-anxiety pills are great 2. Aisle seats are less scary then window seats 3. There is a country called Minsk and girls there read trashy American gossip magazines. Unfortunately due to all my learning throughout the flight, I didn’t sleep more then 1/2 hour.
Upon arrival I found out my house wasn’t quite as “finished” as one who had been paying rent for the past two weeks would expect. One of my housemates had moved in the night before only to discover there were only two (four bedroom house) mattresses and the security system was not working. Thank goodness for her dad, who was already on the phone with the property agents declaring the house inhabitable. He had typed up an outline of the problems with the house and what he expected to be done about it. (that’s so something I would have done… except I would have formatted in Excel and made it pretty colors!) Agency seems to be responding at least—we had the security guy come tell us that the system is broken (genius) and the furniture movers brought two more mattresses, new wardrobes and dressers. My room needs some cleaning but it’s going to look so cute for visitors (hint, hint).
It’s great to be back in Notts—oh, how I missed thee. Went into the city last night for a fantastic Indian meal and to wander around the bars, although two hours of sleep didn’t allow for much drinking. It was the first time I ever turned down a trip to BZR—the bar that offers 2.50 triple vodka shot mixers.
God to work on my house a bit today. I painted over the random splashes of color that seem to have occurred from someone passing out against the wall with a paintbrush taped to his head. Also cleaned so when I get back from Spain I’ll be all set to move my stuff in—the little stuff that I have. My roommate also brought a Mac laptop with her—that makes me so happy. Someone to wallow in ‘Mac joy’ with me. ha!
Ok—off to Spain tomorrow. Can’t wait to see the sun since PwC stole it all from me this summer. 😉
I miss everyone back home. Keep in touch!
