I’m becoming English! Slowly but surely I am adapting to the ways of this crazy culture.
EXAMPLES OF MY BECOMING ENGLISH:
—This evening for dinner I made a jacket potato with baked beans and chedder cheese.
—Not good enough? I regularly eat ‘baked beans on toast’ for lunch.
—I go out at nights with the intention of getting obliterated. I have not uttered the sentence “I will only have a couple drinks” in months.
—I sent more text messages this week then IM’s.
—I corrected a fellow American when she referred to football as soccer.
—Ketchup on fries is second to chili sauce.
—Cheese toasties are second to Kebabs.
—I said cheese toasty.
REASONS I HAVE NOT COMPLETELY CONVERTED:
—I found an American dollar bill in my pocket the other day and I had to remind myself not to try to use it.
—When I order fries, I use up all the ketchup sachets in the little basket the pubs provide you.
—I said “fries” (American) balanced out by “sachets” (British).
—My eyes well up with tears when I see take away pizza.
—I still walk fast.
More to follow as I become aware of my actions!
