“If you didn’t know yourself, how old would you think you are, and why?”
This was the question posed to LL – a friend from work – for a homework assignment. As she contemplated possible approaches to the topic, I became intrigued to analyze my own “age.”
We discussed different angles in which to determine someone’s maturity and the various characteristics in which to consider. Some examples: your sense of responsibility, the kind of humour you enjoy, your career goals, your self-confidence, independence, temper, ability to show sympathy or relate to others, as well as maintain friendships/relationships, consideration for others feelings, image, sense of style, etc, etc.
These were just some things that came to the top of our heads and by no means can define a person’s age or level of maturity. There are many people who I personally consider to be very mature for a number of reasons that others may, or may not, agree with me on. And fair enough… we’re all entitled to that opinion.
I guess I have an opinion on my own age, but I kinda want to hear from you…
If you didn’t know my age, how old would you think I was? … and why? (and, be honest!)
