At a time when everybody is constantly striving for bigger and better, this blog is dedicated to the little things that make me smile — and the big travels that make me say “OMG!”
The mandatory about me: I am an editor for a trade magazine for the food retail industry, and I love my job. It allows me to connect two of my favorite activities: eating and writing. You can see how much I love eating on “BiteForBite,” a NYC- and LA-based food blog my girlfriend and I founded. I’ll warn you: we don’t update it often, but I have more food photos sitting in iPhoto than a new mom has of her kid. They’ll get posted… sooner or later!
You can check out more of my day job type of stuff, as well as read a really cheesy blurb about my love for writing at www.elizabethhatt.com
Outside the office, I can be hard to find. If its snowing, check the top of a mountain; I’m the near-30 year old snowboarding down a slope too advanced for her with an air of invincibility. If I’m stressed, check the yoga studio. If its nice out, I’m outside rollerblading, running or just working on my sports bra tan.
I spend a lot of my weekend time in the kitchen baking cupcakes, cookies or anything else unnecessarily sweet — often made with booze — that I won’t eat myself but rather force feed to loved ones. (I’m weird like that: I don’t have a sweet tooth. However, I have a cheese tooth. I cannot say no to cheese… any cheese… any time of day.) In attempt to stay fit and not become a big blob of cheese, I often over-enthusiastically embark on physical challenges, like signing up for marathons and things like that.
I also volunteer at an animal shelter when I find the time, travel as much as I can and spend a significant amount of time dangling a small stuffed turkey on an elastic string in front of my kitty, Dora, and fighting with her about why she is not allowed to play outside. “It’s for your own safety, Dora… and because I said so!” Oh, and I’m always stressing over the unread section of my bookshelf. It’s massive and the more I read, the more it seems to grow. I just can’t get control over it… so I just avoid walking past it as much as possible.
